Mothers Pride

Although the recent rise in popularity of premium bread brands means Mothers Pride no longer enjoys the top white bread position it once did, it's still the fourth-largest standard bread brand in the UK.

It's also the second largest for bakery snacks within the morning goods market, where its success extends beyond England to Scotland, scoring the top position for scones and fruit buns.

Mothers Pride is over 70 years old, first appearing in the north in 1936 and a national brand by 1956. Originally sold wrapped in wax paper, it progressed with technology to introduce the now-familiar plastic bread bag - although Mothers Pride Scottish Plain can still be bought in wax-wrapped bags.

Mothers Pride produces a whole range of delicious bakery snack products too - from tasty burger and finger rolls for summer BBQs, to white rolls for the lunch box.

As well as traditional favourites, like English muffins, crumpets, fruited teacakes, hot cross and currant buns, there's also an assortment of regional specialities, like Derby scones, Devon scones, Scotch pancakes and other traditional Scottish fair, plus potato scones and soda scones.
